Greater Owensboro Federation of Advanced Manufacturing Education (GO FAME)
GO FAME is an industry-led initiative that pairs workers with companies looking to provide on-the-job training to hard working applicants. Apprentices take classes two days a week at Owensboro Community and Technical College and then get on-the-job training three days a week. Companies pay at least half the tuition and at least $12-an-hour for work time.
The program has been incredibly successful and students have already been placed with good paying jobs. Read this article to learn more about the success of the program from the perspective of a local business and participants
Additional apprenticeship programs are offered by local unions like the Ohio Kentucky ADC.
